About Us

Not to make everything super cheesy, but my family is everything to me.  My husband and I have lived in Central Iowa for 10 years.  We love our "big" small town, and we grew our love and family in our home - and now, our business! 

Earlier this year, my 2nd son was born, and it was insanely difficult.  He ended up spending a considerable chunk of time in the NICU, after being born via c-section.  My second kiddo is now 7 months old, and we have been on the healthy, crunchy journey to rid our home of synthetic ingredients and toxins. 

We're not perfect, but we are trying.  It personally makes me sick to know that my kids, to no choice of their own, already have micro-plastics and pesticides in their system, which isn't their fault, but ours as a whole.

I started Oak and Ember in 2020 as a side project to sell and share my creative side.  Now I'm trying to expand this into an actual way to support our family, so I can be with my family at the same time. 

All my cutting boards are designed and engraved by me!  I cycle a bunch of designs, and I make kind of whatever I'm feeling at the time.

I make my balms in small batches, it took a handful (read: a LOT) of trial and error and we ended up using a blend of tallow, beeswax, castor, and jojoba oil.  It's a great blend, we use it daily in our house.  I'm making more scents, but I'm always willing to make your favorite!  Just reach out.
